Microsoft unveiled the Xbox Series X, the next version of its popular Xbox console, will launch during the 2020 holiday season.


The new Xbox Series X video game console will likely be a tough get when it arrives Nov. 10. But Taco Bell is teaming with Microsoft to give away a slew of the new game systems.

Microsoft on Wednesday announced that the Xbox Series X game system, priced at $499 would arrive in stores on Nov. 10, the same day as the lower-priced Xbox Series S system ($299, no Blu-ray Disc drive on-board).

But Taco Bell has two ways for customers to win an Xbox Series X before it becomes available in stores. Just download the Taco Bell app and join the Taco Bell Rewards Beta program. Those who agree by Sept. 13 to receive emails from the new digital rewards program will be able to register to win an Xbox in daily drawings from Sept. 15-20.

Then beginning Sept. 24, purchase any medium or large drink at a Taco Bell restaurant or in the app (you can enter up to three times daily) and you will get a code for a chance to win an Xbox Series X system, wireless controller and six months of the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate streaming game service. Taco Bell says it will be giving away a winner about every 15 minutes.

Both Microsoft and Sony have new high-powered next-generation video game systems debuting this holiday season. Sony has not announced when its PlayStation 5 will arrive, but it’s expected to priced about the same as the Xbox Series X system.

The sleeker Xbox Series S console, announced Tuesday, has a built-in 512 GB solid state drive. The Xbox Series X system has a one-terabyte solid-state drive and 1TB expansion port – also available on the Xbox Series X – and a 4K UHD Blu-ray disc drive.

For buyers, Microsoft is expanding its Xbox All Access program, which lets you get a game system (the Xbox Series X or S, along with a 24-month Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription, for $34.99 and $24.99, respectively). Preorders begin Sept. 22.

In addition to the 100-plus cloud-based games through Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, All Access consumers also get an EA Play membership with more than 60 of EA’s console and PC games. 

The All Access program offers a way for consumers to get into the next Xbox cycle without any upfront costs and a reasonable monthly payment. “Whether you’re upgrading to the newest consoles or joining the Xbox family for the first time, Xbox All Access is the easiest way to get the best of Xbox,” said Microsoft’s Xbox head Phil Spencer in a blog post Wednesday.
