Dairy Queen launches Blizzard-scented candles, but quickly sold out

The fast food chain Dairy Queen announced a line of dessert-inspired candles on Twitter that sold out within an hour. 

On Thursday, the company launched its “Fall Blizzard Treat Candle Collection,” and as the name suggests, the lineup of six candles is inspired by flavors of its popular blizzard dessert.

In case you didn’t know, Blizzards are a soft-serve menu item at Dairy Queen restaurants and often have a variety of mixed-in ingredients such as sundae toppings, pieces of cookies, brownies or candy.

The new scented candles inspired by the company’s autumn dessert menu include Caramel Apple Pie Blizzard, Choco Dipped Strawberry Blizzard, Brownie Dough Blizzard and Oreo Mocha Fudge Blizzard.

The first smells like homemade pie crust and orchard picked apples, the company says. The second has notes of sweet strawberries. The third smells like homemade brownies while the Oreo-inspired candle “smells of a cozy café.”

Dairy Queen also brought back two scented candles that it launched last fall: Snickerdoodle Cookie Dough Blizzard and Pumpkin Pie Blizzard.

Each of the 4-ounce candles was included in a countdown video Dairy Queen posted to YouTube. 

The sale went live at 3 p.m. ET, according to the company’s tweet that included a link to buy the candles. In a subsequent tweet at 3:18 p.m. ET, Dairy Queen said it sold out. 

“They blew out quickly! You can still treat your taste buds to the Fall BLIZZARD Treat Menu, and taste the flavors that inspired these candles,” Dairy Queen said.

The candle collection costs $25, and 100% of the purchases will be donated to Children’s Mira Network Hospitals, the company said.
