IHOP is making its National Pancake Day giveaway sweeter.
In addition to giving away free short stacks of buttermilk pancakes at participating locations nationwide Tuesday, the chain will serve up 250,000 instant win prizes with a “Pancakes for Life” sweepstakes.
The 15th annual free pancake giveaway is from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. local time at most locations. The event, which also is an annual fundraiser, lasts until 10 p.m. at select locations.
The Glendale, California-based chain said in a news release that the goal is to raise more than $4 million for charities that include Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and Shriners Hospitals for Children.

Since 2006, IHOP has raised more than $30 million for its charity partners during the event. During National Pancake Day on Tuesday, donations will be accepted and guests can donate on-check, with cash at donation boxes or by purchasing a wall tag at the restaurant.
How to get free IHOP pancakes
No purchase is necessary to get the free pancakes Tuesday, but check to make sure your location is participating before heading out. The offer is dine-in only and there’s a limit of one free short stack per person.
A short stack of three pancakes usually costs $5.99.
For a limited time, IHOP is offering free all-you-can-eat buttermilk pancakes with the purchase of any breakfast combo at participating locations. This deal won’t be available Feb. 25 and it’s not valid for the 55-plus and kids menu or with an omelette.
Also get free pancakes for signing up for MyHop emails at www.ihop.com/myhop. You’ll get a coupon for free pancakes for joining, a stack for your birthday and then on the anniversary of when you signed up.
Pancakes for Life sweepstakes
The new Pancakes for Life contest includes nearly $1.6 million in prizes including limited-edition pancake-themed merchandise like bicycles, scooters, jackets, gift cards and free pancakes.
“This year, we really amped up our annual celebration by creating the ultimate IHOP fan sweepstakes where one lucky pancake-er will walk away with ‘Pancakes for Life,’” Stephanie Peterson, a company spokeswoman, said in a statement.
To enter, you must be U.S. resident and at least 13 years old, according to the contest rules. You’ll need to go to a participating restaurant and scan a QR code on a sign at the table Tuesday to find out if you’re an instant prize winner.
After completing the required information for the instant win contest, IHOP says all participants will be entered into the grand prize drawing.
One grand prize winner will be paid in gift cards totaling $15,000 with the full amount awarded in 2020, the rules state.
