When you think of Best Buy, you’re probably thinking of it as your one-stop-shop for all your TV and tech needs. Or maybe it was the place you went to try out Guitar Hero for the tenth time (just me?). But you may not know that Best Buy is one of the better places to pick up appliances and cooking gadgets on top of all the electronics you’re already thinking about.
Here at Reviewed, we’ve tested a ton (and I mean, a ton) of products, so we have a handle of what products are dominating the tech, home theater, and small appliance sectors of the market—and many of them are sold at Best Buy. The retailer also offers a Price Match Guarantee that states they’ll match the price of any product if you find the same item at a lower price at a qualifying retailer. So if you’re doing your shopping at Best Buy but find a product priced lower at, let’s say, Amazon, you can still reap in the benefits of that deal.
Here are the 20 best things you can buy at Best Buy (say that five times fast!) that go beyond tech.
1. The best TV we’ve ever tested
This wouldn’t be a roundup at Best Buy if it didn’t include a TV. So naturally, the first item on this list is the best TV we’ve ever tested, the LG C9 OLED TV. This incredible TV has incredibly rich and contrast-heavy picture quality thanks to the OLED screen, which is why it earned a perfect 10.0 in our tests. Be careful, though. Our editor claims it ruined all other TV screens for him, so you might not be satisfied if you watch the big game or spend movie night anywhere else.
2. This stand mixer that looks great on every counter
The KitchenAid stand mixer is iconic. It’s so well known for its luxe appearance and performance that you can just refer to it as a KitchenAid and people will know what you’re talking about. It’s really the best stand mixer we’ve ever tested and with good reason. Best Buy is surprisingly one of the best places to buy the beloved baking tool, offering competitive prices and a large color assortment.
3. The coveted Apple AirPods
It’s unlikely that you can go through a day without seeing these little white ‘buds on someone’s ears. Yes, I’m talking about Apple AirPods, and they’re still as popular as ever. Plus, they live up to the hype, too, and we named them our favorite wireless earbuds for their amazing sound and seamless connectivity to other Apple devices. You can pick up a pair of these bad boys at a comparable price to other retailers.
4. A powerful fan to keep your room cool
It may be the dead of winter, but I’m still having horrible humid flashbacks to my A/C-less apartment in the summer. But with a super powerful circulating fan, I’m able to keep my bedroom just comfortable enough to sleep in without jacking up my electricity bill. After testing several fans, we found that the Vornado 660 is the best of the best. Producing incredible volume and air speed—even at a distance—it’ll circulate the air around the room for a nice, cool feel.
5. The best robot vacuum on the market
Sure, robot vacuums take the dirty work out of your least favorite chore: vacuuming. But with a small dirt chamber, you might find yourself needing to empty out your ‘bot more often than you’d like. The iRobot Roomba i7+ blows all other robot vacuums out of the way with its superior cleaning power and the fact that it’s self-emptying. Pretty neat, right? It typically costs a whopping $1,000, but we think the high price point is totally worth it.
6. A toaster that could replace your oven
There are toaster ovens and then there’s the Breville Smart Oven Pro. This toaster oven is really the best one out there and in our tests we found that its cooking performance—from frozen pizza to chicken nuggets—came out with oven-level results. Aside from, well, toast, the Smart Oven also has bagel, bake, roast, broil, pizza, cookies, reheat, warm, and slow cook options for the ultimate mini oven experience.
7. The tablet that everyone wants
If you want a tablet, you’re going to want to go with the Apple iPad. The latest model is the best tablet we’ve ever tested for its gorgeous Retina display and compatibility with a smart keyboard and pencil. Its interface is also easy-to-navigate, and there’s no shortage of apps and games to choose from. Plus, you can find some pretty good price drops on iPads at Best Buy every so often.
8. A fitness tracker to help track your goals
Looking for a little more motivation in the new decade? A fitness tracker might help you step up to new goals, and the Fitbit Charge 3 is our favorite one on the market. It shows a ton of stats (like heart rate, steps, distance, and more) with the flick of your wrist, can track workouts, and has an intuitive app. Warning: You may find yourself walking in circles to hit these goals.
9. An incredible pair of noise-canceling headphones
If you want a solid set of wireless headphones—and don’t want to deal with the small, losable AirPods ‘buds—we highly recommend the Sony WH-1000XM3. We named them the best noise-canceling headphones we’ve ever tested, for both comfort and noise-canceling capabilities. They have neat features where you can actually customize how much or how little you want to hear using their intuitive app and you can pause your music with just a tap of an earphone. Pretty neat, eh?
10. A laptop that’s perfect for students
For a great laptop that won’t require you to shell out most of your savings, look no further than the Asus Flip. This 2-in-1 laptop (a.k.a. it “flips” into a tablet) is our recommendation for the best laptop for students, especially those who are anti-Apple. It has amazing performance, a vivid screen, and is fast enough for everyday tasks like surfing the web and checking email, which is basically all you need unless you plan on doing some serious gaming.
11. This seriously amazing cordless vacuum
Dyson has made a name for itself in the vacuuming world, and if you want some serious vacuuming power, then you’re going to want to go with the V11 Torque Drive. Not only does the name sound intense, but this bad boy earned its spot as the best cordless vacuum we’ve ever tested. It has self-adjusting suction that will increase or decrease the intensity depending on the surface, and it picked up 95% of the dirt we threw at it, which is pretty impressive. Plus, the LED screen will keep you updated on the battery life, so you can make sure your vac doesn’t go kaput in the middle of a cleaning session.
12. A soundbar that will change the way you watch TV
Let’s be honest: The sound on your TV probably doesn’t sound that great. But if you want an immersive experience for your Disney+ binge session or March Madness viewing, you’re going to want to upgrade it with an incredible soundbar like the Sonos Beam. It’s the best soundbar we’ve ever tested, and we were impressed by its insane audio quality and that fact it’s Alexa-enabled. That means you can easily ask Alexa to play music or a TV show as long as you have a Fire TV or Fire TV Stick.
13. The best single-serve coffeemaker we’ve ever tried
For a delicious cup of coffee or espresso each morning—and to potentially cut back on your Starbucks habit—you need a Nespresso machine. The VertuoPlus by Breville made our favorite cup of joe when we tested single-serve coffee makers. It has a compact design and can quickly make a high-quality cup of coffee or espresso, depending on the pod size you choose. Even better, it has a milk frother built right in, so you can easily make your favorite lattes at home.
14. This pressure cooker that doubles as an air fryer
The Instant Pot may be popular for its multi-cooking capabilities, but there’s one thing it can’t do: air fry. That’s where the Ninja Foodi comes in, as it can pressure cook and air fry alongside a ton of other cooking functions like slow cooking, steaming, and rice cooking. That’s why we named it our “best upgrade pick” when we tested the best pressure cookers. It’s the most versatile multi-cooker out there and can save you from buying several small appliances.
15. A great TV if you’re on a budget
If a fancy OLED TV isn’t anywhere near your budget, then we highly recommend going with the 55-inch TCL 6 Series TV. It’s the best TV we’ve ever tested for under $500, and we absolutely loved that it offers incredible picture quality that you won’t typically find in this price range. It also has additional bells and whistles like 4K resolution, HDR, and a built-in Roku smart platform, making it a great value TV.
16. A portable charger to juice up all your devices
We’ve all had that moment. You know, when you’re out and about and then all of a sudden your phone is in the red, meaning it will probably run out of juice before you have the time to go home. That’s where a portable charger comes in handy, and this one from Mophie is great for USB and USB-C devices alike. When we tested it, we found that its USB-C was slightly faster, but it had enough power to charge two devices at once.
17. The best air fryer we’ve ever tested
Air fryers are one of the hottest cooking gadgets on the market right now. Not only can you make your favorite fried foods (think fries, tots, and chicken nuggets) sans oil, but you can quickly crisp up veggies for a nice side dish. The Philips Airfryer XXL is the best air fryer we’ve ever tested because it made some of the crispiest fries, chicken, and other delectables—plus it can cook large family-size portions.
18. The ultimate watch for runners
Whether you’re training for your first 5k or have the goal of running 26.2 miles to cross a finish line, a running watch can help track your distance, speed, and improvements. After testing a variety of running watches, we became obsessed with the Garmin Forerunner 245 Music. It was easy to start and stop workouts, as well as glance down to see your current stats mid-run. The best part? You can download your favorite running playlist straight to the watch and listen to it via wireless headphones, making it possible to listen to your tunes without lugging your phone with you.
19. A way to make your favorite juices at home
For Christmas this year, my father gifted me a juicer that I was shocked to learn he purchased at Best Buy. So yes, Best Buy sells juicers—including our favorite juicer—which is pleasant news for me. We love this one from Omega because it consistently produced the highest juice yield and it uses a slow, masticating process that supposedly preserves more vitamins and minerals. Drink up!
20. A dash cam to record any potential accidents
Unfortunately, accidents sometimes happen on the road—and to make sure you’ve got proof that you weren’t at fault for insurance purposes, you might want to install a dash cam. The Garmin Dash Cam 65W is the best one we’ve ever tested for its clear video and secure time-and-GPS-location-stamped footage. It’s a little pricey, but sometimes it’s better to be safe than sorry.
