Amid the growing impact of coronavirus, consumer goods company Unilever is planning to put the power of its U.S. factories to serve those in need.

This Wednesday,  the company donated over $8 million in products to food banks across the country. But beyond this, the company is looking also to produce a movement, encouraging and enlisting other companies that have also been working to fill the need to join.

“This is a problem that impacts everybody equally” Fabian Garcia, president of Unilever North America, told USA TODAY. “It’s not just about writing a check. It’s about going and doing an effort yourself.”

To that end, the consumer goods giant is planning a national day of service on May 21, with its 14 U.S. factories donating and delivering the products manufactured that day or products of equal value to those impacted by the virus. The products could amount to an estimated $12 million, according to Unilever.
